I thought the mean ole author forbade Disney from touching another one of her books again.

Disney owns the Mary Poppins property. It's pretty simple to figure out.

My wife loves Disney movies and she is looking forward to this more than anything else.

The author died, and her family cashed in.

Looks like the movie bombed with 22 million. Solo was moved up to May for this?

Musicals tend to have a long run over the holidays. It initially looked like The Greatest Showman bombed w/only $13 million in it's North American debut but then it ended up making $174m and $434m worldwide.

Some memorable tunes would have helped. That guy who wrote LaLa Land soundtrack would've been a good one.
Oh yes, the original songwriter is still alive

I don’t know but I want to explore Emily Blunt’s nether regions

Yeah, that's the complaint from Film Threat, you can't screw up the songs in a musical when the story is thin.
You won't be humming any of the songs from the film (maybe one). Every song in Mary Poppins was a winner, beloved and memorable. Not so much Mary Poppins Returns.

First book copyright end is coming due in a decade and a half.
I sure hope Disney doesn’t convince them to extend copyright law even further, it’s ridiculous it’s this long.

My wife and I saw this yesterday. I thought it was pretty good. It reminded me of old Disney movies. My wife, who’s favorite movie is Mary Poppins, liked it but was not a big fan of the songs but she had extremely high expectations. I thought the woman who played Mary Poppins was great.

I'm not seeing this shite. Musicals except grease suck.

The movie was great.
Like great how? Predictable great? Musically great?
Funny great?
I need to know.
Critics are saying there's nothing new, the songs are meh and it's charming but predictably boring in every single way.
I love the original Poppins as one of my favorite movies of my childhood but I also see anything Emily Blunt is in...wish the reviews were better and less vague.
Don't know about seeing this though...as Thomas Wolfe said, "you can't go home again."
