I try not to butch about refs and Auburn’s shot selection does them no favors but damn if there haven’t been some obvious fouls seemingly ignored

In the first half, my main complaint if I was an Auburn fan would be the soft touch fouls they called on Zion which allowed him 4 free throw shots. There was also a soft call once Duke was in the bonus that got Tre Jones free throws. I really don't know if Auburn did a single thing in the first half that could have allowed them to get free throws. Are they supposed to be a good three point shooting team? They were passing up lay-ups to take contested threes.
In other words, Peej I think the FT differential would be much more like 8 or 10 to 0, rather than 18.
As for the second half, I thought it was generally even. Both sides should have gotten a flagrant call and it was fairly obvious on both. I wonder if they no called the second on on RJ Barrett's foul because Zion didn't get the right call about 10 minutes prior.
As for the game, Marques Bolden has to be the hardest prospect to evaluate. He goes and scores 0 points against three Canadian teams and then he goes out and looks like Rudy Gobert against Auburn.
RJ Barrett was fricking awful today. Worst player on the court in the last 10 minutes. I seriously think the only way this team loses (and they will lose some games this year) is when he plays like this. Stupid, selfish plays. Shot doesn't fall yet he continues to gun, thus depriving his teammates of opportunities. Careless with the ball and sub-par defense. He was really bad today and probably singlehandedly kept the game semi-close.

Because auburn takes a lot of outside jump shots and duke attacks the basket from the wings. More shooting fouls occur inside than on the perimeter

If a Bruce Pearl coached team is not converting in transition they will struggle. He needs superior talent and athleticism for that system to be at its best. Obviously nobody will have superior anything to Duke, but Pearl is right on schedule getting Auburn built up and in a position to bolt in a year or two and leave the school high and dry.
