Liberalism at its finest.
I make choices that have negative impact on the things I believe I'm entitled to so rather than go out and earn my way and work for what I want I panhandle and guilt simple minded people into giving me their money so that I can do the things I want with minimal effort on my part.

All the BAMA football players will be having significant life changing events, some grew up with no air conditioning.
Basically, removing Strannix bias, the NCAA just ruled that all athletes can now claim hardship and setup a GoFundMe page without penalty.
The days of the "$100 handshake" just went digital.

Just helping a brother out.
I'm already cruising the twitter pages to find out which potential recruits I need help first.

Not saying they did the wrong thing here, but they've done the wrong thing repeatedly in the past.
Someone should point out that if you're poor and black and you take outside money, the NCAA denies you access to an education.
Then tweet that to Talcum X and say "This is what white privilege looks like!"

She made an adult decision, those decisions have consequences.
WTF is the NCAA doing?

I agree- it’s like regular poor folks don’t count but this gal is getting some form of charitable alimony because her parents disowned her.

Yes it’s always the gay kid saying “my parents disowned me” and you never hear from the parents.
Anyone in a big family has seen that one cousin or sibling who thinks any disagreement with the rest of the family is “disownment”.

Sounds like a great way to funnel money from donors to athletes.

i love everyone pretending this will benefit football. you're either 100% covered or 0% covered there. other sports, not so much.

But they aren’t cover for gas money to go see their girlfriends and take her out to dinner. Gotta provide that quality of life.
The NCAA just majorly shite the bed

“Emily Scheck can retain her eligibility and continue to receive GoFundMe donations that assist her with living and educational expenses,” the association shared via Twitter on Friday. “NCAA staff worked with Canisius College to provide guidance that the fundraiser can continue with school monitoring and will continue to assist as needed.
"Living expenses" is quite an anomalous and subjective phrase, no?
I highly doubt the university has the right and/or standing to monitor her personal bank account and how she spends the money in order to ensure that she is using them for legitimate "living expenses." Hell, even saying "legitimate living expenses" is still anomalous and subjective. What's a legitimate living expense?
"I don't have a car and I need one." - living expense
"I broke my phone and need a new one. Oohhh, this top-of-the-line iPhone model looks nice." - living expense
Do you think football players are provided money for these things?
quote:
NCAA rules and waiver precedent allow a school to assist a student-athlete with a fundraiser after a significant life event occurs.”
I'm pretty sure this waiver was meant for things like someone's home being destroyed in a natural disaster. Not something personal and subjective like "my parents disowned me."
