I’m a student and I go to the basketball games, but why do people feel that students NEED to go to the games? Why do you care what 18-22 year olds do with their time? If you want it to be rowdy, get all of your buddies that enjoy basketball and get it done. However, the student section will fill out if we continue to win into SEC play.

A) Then stand up and cheer

B) Why do I care? Because for 14 years of my life, I have poured my time, energy, money, emotions into something I love. I think about some of the best moments I had as a student and they center around that arena and that team. As a Freshman, I was a manager for an NCAA tournament team and if I see those guys around, I still talk to them. Students drive excitement, so without the students, the atmosphere is not where it needs to be to create a homecourt advantage which is MASSIVE for college basketball.

C) I have lots of friends who go to the games. And they pay lots of money to go to the games. I've made an arse out of myself MANY times during games, but again, it does not have the same effect as the students. You're a young kid so you don't understand that. One day when you're older, you'll realize what I mean.

I've had Dane Bradshaw look into my eyes as he runs down the court flipping the students off and yelling "frick You" because collectively as a section we set up camp in his head and were having drinks. Bruce Pearl knew what Bradshaw did and he literally went over to him, pointed to Bradshaw and we cheered, and he put him back into to let us maul him more.

I've been there when Matt Walsh was dating a Playboy Playmate and we were chanting her name, people had posters of her "spread"

So I don't think students NEED to go to the games, but I think it's sad they don't want to. And if they do go to the game, I don't understand why you wouldn't want to be loud and crazy for a couple of hours. If you're going to go and sit on your arse, why not watch it on tv? What is the difference?

Was there. I was a senior in high school and drove from Central to attend every SEC home game that season. It was amazing to be part of something so special that year. Students now days have no clue what that kind of ownership feels like. They don't care to know.

I think this may be a big part of the overall problem.

I'll be honest, I'm not a huge basketball guy. I dont feel that need to go to the games that you do. For me, and I think for a lot of casual fans/students, its preferable to stay at home and drink/eat while sitting on my couch.

ETA: I do think that as the season goes on and if LSU keeps improving, a lot of casual students will go to the games and the PMAC will get rowdy. But for now, basketball isn't even on the brain. Give it a month or 2
