Saints 2019 Free Agents

According to sportrac the Saints will have about 15 million in cap space before making any moves. We currently have the following 2019 free agents... and this is what they’re currently making.
Teddy Bridgewater $6,000,000
- I think we try to sign him but will be interesting to see how much he costs, and how long of a deal with Drew still around.
Mark Ingram UFA $4,000,000
- Will be worrisome that a team will come in and offer a crazy number, but I think he sticks around for around 5-6 per season.
Manti Te'o UFA $2,500,000
- good cheap depth is hard to find, likely sign to a similar deal unless we draft a replacement
Josh Hill UFA $2,366,667
- too valuable in the run game to give up, likely sign a small pay bump
Ben Watson. UFA $2,000,000
- doubt we see him back as we replace in FA or draft
Michael Hoomanawanui UFA $1,700,000
- assuming we bring in a TE to replace Watson, with Hill and Arnold as better pass catchers, will we bring back Hooman?
Craig Robertson UFA $1,666,667
- he’s dependable depth at LB and should come back with a small pay bump around 2 mil a season
Chris Banjo UFA $1,300,000
- cheap special teams deal
Jermon Bushrod. UFA $1,015,000
- he’s 34 and lost a step or 2 but reliable and smart. I have to imagine we look to draft a replacement
PJ Williams UFA $765,228
- this will be interesting. He’s clearly struggled at times but has had bright spots as well. How much can he get on the open market vs what’s he worth as your 4th corner? This could be an area where we try to improve in free agency/draft and move on from PJ or we offer a team friendly contract around 2 mil a season.
Tyeler Davison. UFA $624,306
- obviously someone we want back and should be able to get for 2-4 mil.
Ken Crawley RFA $630,000
- Id guess we offer a vet min deal to come to camp and compete to make the roster
Wil Lutz K RFA $540,000
- he’s earned a good contract and top kickers are making 4 mil or so a season but being a restricted free agent gives us some leverage. If I was his agent I’d push for him to get top dollar for his position. Maybe a 3 year 11 mil deal is reasonable for both sides.
(We have a few other free agents who are inconsequential)
A pretty favorable scenario for the Saints that should allow them to bring in an impact player or 2 in free agency as well to get better as a team. Mark Ingram is really the only one I’m worried about losing, just because I think he’s important on the field but also in the locker room.

Ingram is pushing 30. I don’t think that he will have as big of a market for his services. He does have low usage, I can see him having a longer than average career because of that. I think that we can keep him at the price that he is currently but maybe on a 3 year deal. We need to be able to resign AK in 2 years.

Ingram at 5-6 per year? Yikes

I said the price that he is currently at $4m/yr. Not 5-6 as the OP wrote. His price is cheaper due to age.

Bushrod and Watson Retire.
Resign Bridgewater after Brees retires if we win SB.
Resign Hill
Resign Lutz
PJ can go
Ingram -somebody will give him the feature role and too much $
Hooman - not resigned
Banjo - not resigned
Davidson - may resign
Te’o- may resign
Crawley- resign, maybe he returns to 2017 form

What worries me is a team like the Steelers, who were willing to pay Bell 15 mil... now they have a cheap option in Conner, so paying Ingram something like a 3 year 25 mil deal is coming out ahead of where they would’ve been

I'm not sure Brees will retire even if we win SB due to being so close to the records, also staying ahead of Tom Brady.

We are gonna have to start paying these 2017 draft picks after next year so i doubt there is much of a splash next offseason unless Mickey back loads the hell out of some things to push for another awesome season next year with Drew which COULD be his last.
Saints will still return a super bowl calibar team next year regardless of how FA works out.

I think Saints and Mark Ingram will come to a fair contract for both sides

he's already said he's not going to retire at the end of the season even if he gets another SB

Why would we let Ben Watson go?
Why did we let Ben Watson go the first time?
With Drew he is a very above average TE.
He is also arguably the best human being in the NFL.
Coby Fleener???

don't see letting Watson go unless we've drafted his replacement
Posted on 11/14/18 at 2:56 pm to Lsujacket66
Isn't Lutz an ERFA? If so, he'll be back for $600k.

Yeah but they might give it to him early for him taking less.
Most of the time thats how it works with players u def want to keep.
Also I think ingram will def be back

Y’all think that Watson and Bushrod keep playing?
Bushrod better get more flexible by Sunday. He looked like a statue that could push against Cincy.
Watson is getting stiffer with each game, but he’s still our best TE.
