And repeat as National Champions with another OC with even better numbers...

then we can change ours after going scoreless at home against them

and finishing around 100th in total offense...

I don't care what our record is....this is team game

this is about excellence!!!!!! The offense is not excellent

SE is a Tiger, I get that...

but if we want LSU to be elite again, then we have to keep the bar high for all hires on the staff...

O may not like fire SE, but I don't see he has a choice...

Too much talent...

being wasted again

the fact we can't run a screen play without a 3 yard loss is total embarrassment...

Pressure on stubborn mules eventually wins the day...

Sounds like something I just posted.

You’re spot on.

The guy is stale and needs to move on. Or put him back as the TE coach or something and hire a real OC.

I think Steve has done admirably but a change would be great for the program and him.

I don’t think there’s much of a chance of SE being fired. I think there’s a good chance of him being demoted or retiring. Unless he retires, he will be on the staff next year, hopefully not as OC. He supposedly didn’t want the job to begin with, so it would be a great time to step down. O might personally ask him to step down but I don’t see him coming out and admitting he made a mistake promoting E.

SE seems to have changed over the course of the season

we look much more conservative....

defenses probably figured him out...

I agree. Part of that is probably due to the offensive line struggles. I don’t think SE knows how to scheme around a weak offensive line. We go into max protect too much. That limits the options Burrow has and also makes it harder to run the ball since there are more in the box on the defensive side. The o line can easily be blamed for the offensive struggles but the fact that SE hasn’t adjusted his play calling around it is a big problem as well.

All i am going to add to this if he does fire SE...He better of done his homework already and asked a few other OCs if they would be willing to come...Hopefully he would have a plan and a few people in mind before hand

You do realize they had no choice but to change their OC because they took other jobs. I dont believe it had anything to do with them just wanting to make a change.

Coach O has the perfect OC, one that does what he tells him to do

I don’t want Steve fired. He’s a good guy that seemingly didn’t want the job but took it for his friend O.

If I’m O, I return the favor and let Steve dictate how he goes. Back to TE coach, retire, etc.

I completely agree. It's about the details at this point. Good enough should never be good enough. Always raise the bar to higher expectations if you want to be successful.

I agree, time for Steve to go. It's kinda sad that he's getting a lot of heat and he didn't even want the OC job.

If SE retires end of season, it wouldn't have to sit atop CEO as having blundered an OC hire (even if he did). Both could save face, and maybe... maybe... LSU might find a serviceable OC for next season. One can hope, anyway.

Steve has been severely hampered by personnel issues. Does anyone here not think that he deserves to get his people in place? I think he deserves this chance to be successful.

he didn’t even want the job in the first place.

Regardless, why is LSU the only school that comes up with these excuses? We see new OCs at numerous schools around the country have instant success with the personnel they inherit.

I agree. Can’t blame Steve too much for doing the best he can with a job he didn’t even want. Keep Steve as a advisor, TE coach, etc.

We need someone that brings a modern day philosophy to the offense side of the ball. 3 yards and a cloud of dust just doesn’t cut it anymore in today’s SEC.

If O can find an OC version of Dave Aranda and give him complete control of the offense, we will be set. I don’t mind(I actually like) O as the emotional leader head coach as long as he hires good coordinators around him to do the actual scheming/coaching.

We need O to keep recruiting good players and fire them up on Saturdays, but we need somebody better than just O and his buddy to run the offense.
