Democrats gained majorities in seven state legislature chambers

Republicans still have control of 30 state legislatures, but Democrats had a small comeback after significant losses at the state level in the 2014 and 2016 elections. For the first time since 1914, there is only one split chamber in the U.S. — in Minnesota. With such gains, state-level legislation could be easier to pass on issues like marijuana legalization, abortion, voting rights, gun control, and criminal justice reforms.
Democrats flipped state Senates in New Hampshire, Colorado, Connecticut, Maine and New York as well as state Houses in Minnesota and New Hampshire. Republicans flipped the Alaskan House of Representatives.
State legislatures can be controlled by the minority party. This election, Democrats won control over the New York Senate and Republicans won control of the Alaska House, both of which had previously been controlled by minority coalitions.
Republicans control 30 state legislatures and Democrats control 18 — compared to 31 and 14 before the election.
In 21 states, there are both Republican governors and Republican majority legislatures. Democrats have full state control in 14 states.
This is pretty important because Texas, Georgia, North Carolina, and Florida are under heavy assault by the Democrats to expand their majorities in those states by pushing more friendly immigration policies. The same types of immigration policies that have allowed California, Nevada, and Colorado.

Dems got killed in Ak, which kind of surprised me. They ran some bat shite crazy candidates though.
Of course, the bat shite crazy progs swept Juneau. My voting location was around 75-25 in favor of Democrats.

VOTER ID NEEDED TO VOTE passed so the D's can't steal votes with illegals- via the leftist triangle and Charlotte.

Honestly, they've been down so low, and so long across the political board that their only option was to move up. Not surprising, really.

With 53-54 Republican Senators, Murkowski should be irrelevant. With Flake and McCain gone, all the better. A crying shame she isn't up for re-election until 2022. A Republican has to take her out for good. Jeff Miller got screwed 8 years ago, they need to eliminate her this time and not with that nut Palin.

The Dems flipped 11 seats in the Texas House. Most of them were in Dallas and Harris counties which are strong Dem holds, but one was in conservative Denton County where Ron Simmons, the "bathroom bill" author, got bounced.

With the 2020 census happening withing the 4-year term of these newly elected state house/senate + governorship this will be critical on district redraws....
another reason the 2019 LA governor's election is important....
