10 wins is a 1-year rolling extension. Period.

You cats can "not like" that all you want.

10 wins do not just "happen".

What do you tell the next guy? "Win 11 games or you're fricking fired!"

He has 3 more years.

I dont Think you need to extend him to 4 more years.

Next year is the extension year

Especially in the SEC West.
It's almost like people don't remember the 90s at all.

Especially after most people expected a 7-5 type season.

This. It's pretty much standard across CFB.

I tell him here's a 5 year contract with a ridiculous buyout, unless you win SEC or make playoffs, don't bring your contract extension BS in the middle of year 2 of 5.

Can you tell me what the importance of giving O an extension this year???? I really want to know! The man hasn't finished year 2 of a 5 year contract and now it has to be done or "what do you tell the next guy" shite.

CEO was hired and given a contract that was WAY ABOVE his market value.

He needs to finish this year strong, 10-2 and bowl victory. Then duplicate in year 3. Then and only then should and extension be on the table.

IF...IF Joe caves and gives an extension in year 2 of 5, it better not change his buyout. 2 year extension, maybe increase his pay, but absolutely no change to his current buyout!

You cannot fire a coach with 2 losses. Plus, contract extensions are just part of it. You have to have a contract in place so recruiting and culture can continue. When you decide to fire you just have to fire with a longer contract in place.

LSU cannot just go and negotiate contracts completely different than every other major college.

Coach O signed a five year contract, no?????

There is ZERO reason to extend him. He isn’t going any where. At least let the context play out.

I don’t understand the extension talk this soon.

Do nine wins "just happen"?

Because the old guy won nine REGULAR SEASON GAMES nine out of eleven years. And he won ten regular season games six of eleven.

And he was fired.

The standard has been set, and not by us.

Also, these same people in this thread defending an absurd extension for a guy who has done nothing and who will never have an offer to leave are most of the same ones that bash the extension for the former conference and national championship coach that left us in the predicament that landed us with the current guy that no one else ever wanted.

Not saying that's you, Ace, but that's the side you're on here.

O has two years left on his deal. That isn't going to worry any recruits in this class. As if anyone is committing to him personally anyway.

We will know all we need to know about the direction of the program next year. Extend him then if all looks well.

Anything sooner and we're making the same mistake Aleva made with Miles and Auburn made with Gus.
