Never talk to the police

Interesting video from a defense attorney and a police officer explain from 2 separate point of views why you should always plead the 5th regardless if you are innocent or not. Simply denying a crime can be used as evidence to convict you, even telling innocent truth can convict one.
Why to never talk to the police

Something everyone should know. You cannot talk your way out.
It is simply a chance for them to put you on record....so that any later statement that differs slightly is "proof of guilt"

Exactly. point blank.

quote:yep. “Everything you say can and will be used against you” is a 100% true statement. I’ve met some good, honest cops, but in my few years I’ve learned to not admit to anything and don’t speak unless it’s vital.

Yeah I second or third that motion...cops like to ask the same questions a million times to catch you in a lie. So give them ANY reason....They will run with it. Of course not all of them are like that. There are a few bad apples....but no different than fans. I got a DUI once and it was like the swat was there. It was too much!

The police are legally allowed to lie to you to extract information.
They are also subtle. ‘Do you know why I pulled you over today?’ is a ploy to get you to admit guilt.

from the opposite perspective, I would still agree 100% based on my one and only experience with a police investigator and his superior officer, I was told by numerous people to drastically dumb down my expectations prior to meeting wit them to discuss their findings and next steps, I couldn't be more disappointed, logic and objective facts apparently never enter their thought process, where do they find these people and what training are they given, never mind don't answer that...
completely lost all respect for LE after that meeting, WTF...

The police are on the police side of the law. Not yours

You could also not put yourself in a position to have to talk to the police.

The police can question you for any reason. Just because you get questioned doesn’t mean you’re guilty.

What if my job is to ask if they want glazed or with sprinkles? Still never? That doesn't seem right?

The police have shown time and time again that they will lie and even plant evidence on you to get a conviction. This video is great and no we shouldn't talk to the police. It is a shame the police isn't what it used to be and now for the most part, only care about getting that quota and revenue for their department.

police are now simply small pawns in the game of politics, nothing more...

It is crazy that they do not have the best interest of the citizens that they are supposed to protect, but instead have the most interest in creating revenue and meeting quotas, which all revolves around $$$$$$$$$$$$$.

The worst mistake anyone can ever make is trusting a cop.
