Introducing Myself

Hello, TD, my name is Eddie. I am a long time lurker and, obviously, first time poster here.

I've long debated whether or not I want to become a member, as there is a lot of good content here, but also a great deal of infighting. But, I'm at a point where all the extra curricular stuff just is what it is, and I simply want a place to talk some LSU. This seems like the place to do it.

Lately, I find myself debating Alabama fans in youtube comment sections which, as we all know, is a place where actual conversation does not exist. The arrogance of their fanbase is hardly surprising, but I find them to be particularly over the top with their self-righteous, elitist attitudes right now. You cannot get almost any of them to say a single respectful thing like "hey, this game's always tough, but I think we'll win".

They are SURE that they cannot be beaten. Well, maybe they're right. But maybe history tells us that there is no such thing as an unbeatable team, of which no possible scenario could play out that would stand in the way of their perfection.

Remember Oklahoma in '03? They were annihilating everyone and all of the talk was about how they might be the best team in college football history. How'd that turn out? I don't know what will happen this Saturday but the arrogance is amusing. These people seem to derive their very self worth through their team. Now, I know that every fan base has those people. But I can't think of another that has such a consensus of it's fans who live vicariously through the performance of their team.

So I'm here to get away from the mindless rambling of their fans, who refuse to acknowledge the human elements of the game, and just respond to every point with "you're stupid". I look forward to conversation with Tiger fans.
