they are extremely explosive... all their games have been over by end of 1st QTR...

we can not let them throw over the top and score quickly, we must tackle well

game must be called clean... when they hold protecting TUA or screen plays, it has to be called. when they block in the back, it must be called. When they are draped all over our young receivers, it must be called. (book mark this for Sunday am)

we have to control the ball when we have it...and punch in TD's when close rather than FG's...

must win turnover battle..

It starts with pressuring Tua. If we can't pressure him it will be a long night.

So your opinion on how to beat Bama is:

1) don't allow them to pass vertically
2) don't miss tackles
3) Refs can't cheat or miss calls
4) sustain long drives against their defense
5) score TDs instead of settling for FGs when on offense
6) win turnover battle

That's the same game plan for the past 50 years.

Tua thrives from throwing off of pressure. Key is not giving up on the man they are covering by the dbs. If coverage is tight he will have no last second target.

You must be new here. LSU has to beat the crimson jerseys as well as the ones wearing stripes over their crimson.

We just need to run the ball and stop the run.

If we can do those two things, we will win. If we can't, we will have trouble. With all the talk of Tua and how great he is, I would rather have Bama one dimensional attacking the strength of our defense than being able to wear us down with the run game.

that plays right into lsu's biggest strength. what might be lsu's biggest problem is sacks. they get more and give up less than lsu.

this isn't exactly true. the d has been in the backfield plenty this year (although they aren't always good at wrapping up). multiple people commented that lsu only had 5 in the box most of uga and state games. pressure wasn't the primary focus

Their kicker sucks. Get that 4th down defense ready. Saban is likely to just go for it if they aren't inside the 30yd line.

Bama has a bunch of small quick receivers. The key is to rough them up at the line and throw off the timing of the routes.

I'd like to see Stevens playing up close to the line and leave Delpit deep. I don't trust Battle to not bite and leave centerfield wide open.

Yep.

Our coverage has be tight and on point early and often....

We must be able to confuse Tua with our looks and pressures

And we must get some turnovers

Offensively, we have to hit our own big plays, stay out of 3rd and long, convert 3rd downs and .... tempo may be a good thing too.

I don't think it's this simple this year.

They could legit have 0 rushing yards and still win. As the OP said, the has to be limited on the big plays.

I doubt that the gumps get any holding calls. Wait for the phantom PF or PI on LSU unless the outcome is not in doubt.

Yea, until one of those “small” receivers whip your DB off the line and take a slant to the house. The key is pressure. If LSU doesn’t get pressure on Tua it’s going to be a long night. Man to man will get you eaten alive, because of their route running abilities.

It’s pick your poison with Bama.
