Would you participate if we began a concerted effort towards tea time?

Tea has long been used as an umbrella term for several different meals. Isabella Beeton, whose books on Home economics were widely read in the 19th century, describes afternoon teas of various kinds, and provides menus for the old-fashioned tea, the at-home tea, the family tea and the high tea. It’s a long book, and I didn’t feel like reading it.

English tea time is usually from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. According to What's Cooking America, tea is typically served with tiny sandwiches, scones and other pastries. During tea time, savory food is offered first, followed by scones and sweets.

In the evening, the lower classes (SEC Rant posters) and northerners (soccer board) come home from work, school or shopping and sit down to another fairly substantial meal called tea at about 6pm. However, the upper classes and southerners eat later and the meal they eat, called dinner, tends to be the main meal of the day.

I adore a nice cup of afternoon tea, especially on crisp autumn days reminiscent of my time in Law school at Cornell.

Tea crosses many cultural boundaries. It’s not about good guys vs. liberals.

Afternoon Tea is a meal composed of sandwiches (usually cut delicately into 'fingers'), scones with clotted cream and jam, sweet pastries and cakes.

We could do both. Take a nap, wake up to tea.

True story, I can’t drink tea without a cookie.

Is there a certain dress code involved? Cuz I really lean towards the comfortable and casual.

So put me on the fence, especially if it's a four-strand, barbed wire fence.

While the origin of tea drinking is not really known, by most accounts the beginnings of the tea culture in China began around 2737 B.C. ... Tea was originally consumed for its medicinal properties. Used as an herbal medicine the Chinese added the leaves to their food to provide nutrients or as an antidote for poison (the soccer board).

Wrong. Dinner is at mid day. Supper is at night.
