Looking to get my wife some of the sound deadening ear muffs for hunting and shooting skeet. I've read some information on the internet but still feel lost. Any advice of brands?

I use the Activ brand from Academy. Work great and do not bother my shotgun mount.

I have yet to see a pair go bad and I use mine all the time. They have a port if you want to plug in music or anything while on the range and they have a volume adjustment on the side so you don't have to scream when using them. You can always double up and also wear ear plugs if you're taking a rifle class or shooting indoors. Ask me how I know.
EDIT: Forgot to mention they work great as ear warmers on those cold days. Put a beanie on and then slip the ear pro over them. Works like a charm.

If not on a budget hard to beat Wildears. I have had a problem wingshooting with an ear muff style affecting my cheek weld and affecting my impact in the blind. An electronic inner ear mold has been a game changer for me.
FYI this was discussed a few weeks ago, a search could pull up a lot of info from it also.

I have a pair that went bad, but still good protection.

I just bought the walkers razor quad ear muffs. They work great. I was worried they would annoy me shooting but I shot the best I had in years (this has nothing to do with the ear muffs)
Another option is go to an ent. They make custom mold earplugs for you that block out loud sounds but still allow you to hear lighter noises.
