Find out when the ‘19 models start to arrive, and shop for ‘18 models about that time. That can be as early as August or September for some brands. They’re not gonna give you an ‘18, but they’ll be more motivated to move those last year models.

This^^^ and also the fellow who mentioned demos. My uncle's wife bought a current model year demo Lexus at year end several years ago and got a helluva discount.
One of the mega dealers in my area used to hire people as part-timers just to drive and park their cars in a neighboring county at year end, all to avoid the taxes in the county where the dealership was located. You could snag some really good deals if you weren't overly picky about colors and options.
