Watched it on netflix. Wow, great story, very moving. Christian Bale’s character’s story arc is really moving.
Sorry if there is a thread on this. Searched and didn’t see a dedicated thread.

Your right. It was an awesome movie
Bale is one of the best actors of this generation.

Really good movie but kind of left me wanting something when it ended.

Great movie but it was super depressing

Really good movie for sure. I think Christian Bale could pull off just about any character.

I actually agree. Before the train station ending I thought they were going to show the 3 of them in a home together in the valley in Montana.

Bale was great in that movie. That was a good movie, but I feel like it was missing something. Not sure what, but just missed something.

Probably one of the best movies in 2017. Excellent excellent movie.
Agree with this too. He's definitely up there.

Bale was very good as expected. But overall I thought the movie was pretty good. Not great, something like a 7/10

That film is a visceral punch in the gut. Great film. Should have gotten more love from the Academy.

The pacing for the movie is kinda off. I think that's it. The events happen in an episodic nature which means there's very little raising action to the climax from a narrative point

I thought the acting was good but the story just didn't have enough kick.

Agreed.
It is a beautiful movie though. The first scene is hard. It is never easy watching kids and babies get killed in movies.

Bump from the past.
Saw this yesterday on Tubi.
Thoroughly enjoyed this. The cinematography is beautiful, and the plot is grounded and difficult. No one wins. No one is right. It's just messy, and that's why it works.
Excellent acting by everyone in it. Bale, Pike, Plemons, and even appearances from Ben Foster, Jonathan Majors, and a very young Timothee Chalamet.
Really worth a viewing if you've got 2.5 hours and are tired of recycled schlock.
