I know it is early but I want to book the trip to Austin asap so I don’t get stuck in a Motel 6. Any suggestions on hotels?

Just looked at the Hilton website and it's going fast. I'm at the HGI Arboretum

Is that close to the campus? Or is there a better area to stay?

The Hilton downtown and the Hilton Garden Inn downtown are nice for Hilton properties.

The OMNI downtown is also a very nice property.

And the JW Marriott recently opened a couple of years ago, which is a top notch property.

All 4 properties are just a hop, skip and jump away from UT, right off I-35.

You can stay at the Hyatt if you don’t mind spending a bit

We did air bnb for the Miami game and it was much better than a hotel imo. 2 bedroom house with jacuzzi, outdoor fire pit and gas grill was $140 a night and was only a mile from downtown bars.

Campus is just north of downtown.

AT&T center on campus
Fairmont downtown just opened
JW Marriott is a couple years old
W Downtown

Don't recommend the embassy suites, it's a little dated.

Or an airbnb in the Hyde Park neighborhood or downtown high rise.

There is a shuttle service that runs from several locations to and from the game. Barton Creek mall and the UT intramural fields on E. 51st are two of the pick up/drop off locations. I think there are a couple of others as well. I’ve seen visiting fans using it and it’s worth considering.

I stayed there a few times (downtown, off Congress). I had a toilet seat "lift up" during the middle of the night on me (I can say for certain I didn't leave it up --- I had closed the lid and seat prior to bed). That same night, my co-worker stayed right down the hall and he felt someone at the end of his bed grabbing his feet.

He was the only one in the room.

Cool, then yeah, the Hyatt Downtown near South Congress and 3rd is a pretty good place to stay. It's about $200 a night and you're within walking distance of a lot of good restaurants, and about ten minutes south of the stadium (although traffic will probably make it take longer on game day)

Another decent place to stay is the Best Western off of Oltorf and I-35. They have an awesome breakfast and aren't too much further south.

Don't stay near the airport, north of Burleson Road is the way to go. The airport is a fairly dangerous area and it would take that much longer to get to the game anyway.

Traffic really isn't too bad when you're out and about in town but downtown and I-35 can get pretty congested, it can take a while to get through especially when you approach UT.

And there is plenty to do for food/entertainment after the game. 6th street is obviously great if you want to go drinking, but I tend to prefer going to breweries and just hanging out there trying different beers.
