Best suggestions for boiling shrimp

Haven't boiled shrimp for a long time and I'm going to attempt tonight...
Planning on liquid boil, lemon, and spices
Adding shrimp after boiling water and spices for 5 minutes, cutting heat after it comes back to a boil. Ice. Soak for 10 minutes
Is this acceptable?
Any suggestions/tips?

You can pretty much cut the fire as soon as you drop 'em in.

My strategy depends on how much im doing.
With 1 to 2 lbs of decent sized shrimp, I bring the water to a rolling boil for a few minutes in a 16qt pot and drop the shrimp in. Give it a stir and wait about 30 seconds to a minute and cut the heat. They should float and then I dump in ice and let sit for 20 to 30 minutes.

By adding the ice you are stopping the cooking process, which is good. The soak time will depend on how much seasoning you have added and what your desired level of spice is.
Start tasting after a few minutes. Additional seasoning can be added if they haven’t picked up enough flavor in the first 5-10 minutes. Additional soak time will not hurt them as long as you have brought the temp down enough.

Kevin Belton on PBS had two pots. One with just water, the other with all the spices and such. He cooked the spice pot for awhile then cut it off. Turned the just water pot on, got to a boil and put the shrimp in. After it came back to a boil, he took the shrimp out and put it in the spice pot for 30 minutes. The spice pot had cooled of a bit.

My tip to everyone boiling shrimp:
I’ve never had an undercooked boiled shrimp but I’ve had plenty over cooked

Continously stir and checking the shrimp on the back side. When you see the shell start to pull away from the meat on them they're done. Kill it, ice it, soak it, then eat it.

I can sit and eat well cooked boiled shrimp and drink beer for a long time. If their overcooked and stuck to the shell, I'm good for about 6. I mean 6 shrimp.

Not as much water as you think.
Spice how you like it.
Cut heat when shrimp go in.
Stir gently, and add ice if water temp is over cooking shrimp.
Add more spice and soak as long as it's out of the "cooking" zone.

This, I boil shrimp 3-4 times a month. I NEVER add ice. Season your water well, when you think its seasoned enough season it a little more.

Make sure to put them on ice as soon as they done unless you like them hot. I like mine firm and cold.

Maybe some people like a little more seasoning flavor to their shrimp. Maybe you don’t need to ice them. I do because I find it takes way too much seasoning to get the level of spice that I want in a short boil. Also I like the option to add a little more seasoning during the soak if needed to get the flavor just right. I like mine spicy. There are a lot of different ways to get the job done. To each his own.
2 main goals/tips I give are the following
1. Don’t over cook them
2. Make them spicy
