I'm on the fence on legalization.
When I smoked it didn't really matter that it was illegal.
I mean I guess you won't have to worry about getting busted any longer.
The people that will really benefit are the money men like growers, sellers, and bankers.

Maybe or maybe not.
But that should never be the basis for legalization.

I believe the alcohol industry sales would drop some.

in both Washington & Colorado they have had decreases in alcohol and prescription drug usage

Would drop a lot.
The alcohol and tobacco lobby is one of the biggest roadblocks to MJ legalization.

Employers can still maintain a drug free work place, so a lot of people aren't going to just start smoking.

I haven't seen an increase in usage locally. It's not like people had problems finding the stuff before retail stores opened.

Why would tobacco be against the mj industry? They're not really competitors.

So you’re asking if a law that restricts usage of something that many people use/have used were abolished, would usage of said product increase? I’m gonna go with yes, it would take awhile but I would compare it to current alcohol consumption plus it’s better for your long term health

Tobacco is very pro mj now.
They’ve bought thousands of patents and have the infrastructure to scale marijuana sales almost overnight.

That'd be the main issue if it were federally legal. However I think employers could still not employ mj users in certain fields. Or any for that matter.
Even if it were prescribed, employers can refuse to hire you depending on the frequency of your dosage. Say three time per day you'd be at work under the influence.

Yes it does. Maybe not a lot but using reason alone and has to.
The number of people who smoke pot that will stop now that it’s legal LOWER tha
The number of people never smoked that might now that it’s legal and more importantly, more accessible

Not as much as alcohol, but if you're consuming MJ you likely won't be having a cigarette around the same time.
Both are used for anxiety.

MJ were to become federally legal, could employers still not hire on the basis of a failed drug test?
Until they develop a test that can detect if the person is currently high, or decide to raise the minimum threshold, then employers will still use the standard MJ test.

In Holland usage dropped.
Since it’s still a federal schedule I drug banks aren’t allowed to do business with dispensaries.

There are plenty of "legal" drugs (pain pills and the like) that are listed on some drug test screens. Don't have a prescription and it shows up you have a problem. Marijuana would probably be treated in similar fashion.
