I don't recall seeing much if anything posted here about Zorba's on Essen. The owner his wife(the chef) are from Cyprus and put ot a product that is 2nd to none in the state when talking about Greek/Med food. I ate there last night, a monthly event and left fat and happy once again. Not a bad thing on the menu.

Anyone else feel the love that is Zorba's?

no, Dino and his wife have the BR location only. Not your typical schwarma and gyro joint,

One of the best in BR. Next time, deviate from the norm and try their Fish Cavo Greco.

Best Med food in town. So much better then the other meat cone joints around town.

Because it is actually Greek not Arabic food.

Their former location on Perkins (where Louisiana Lagniappe is) was great. Still the same great food at their Essen location, but I had a special place in my heart for their former location. No question, they are the best Greek restaurant in BR.

My wife loves the Greek/Med food but I don't particularly care for it. I have to say though, I enjoyed the few times we have been to Zorba's.

Was there last night as well. Had the Village Salmon with orzo which I really like. Grilled Halloumi and hummus. They were out of the Taramousalata ? the caviar dip which is great too.

I had the greek ice tea since I had a full morning of work but they have a nice Greek wine selection.

We are regulars at Zorba’s and it is indeed one of BR’s best restaurants. I have eaten through their whole menu and the only thing I didn’t like was a seafood dish that is in a pastry shell (I forgot what they called it)

Everything else is great.

When I get the flaming cheese app, I always tell the waitress to let it burn itself out. I like it a bit charred.

I worked at the Perkins location (kitchen), I have also worked at Commander's Palace and Bayona in N.O., and I think Polina (chef/owner) is one of the best chefs in BR and beyond. She is a brilliant cook, has high standards and works as hard as anyone. Awesome restaurant.

Halloumi is amazing, love the texture.

They also sometimes have a really good pastitsio on the menu. It's basically a Greek lasagna, my wife and I made it at home one time and it's a complicated time consuming dish, but delicious.

How long ago did you work at the one on Perkins? I want to say they left the Perkins location circa 2002.
