I was looking into Miami’s 2017 schedule and noticed that they seem to start slow.
Check this out...
Points scored by Miami in the 1st quarter:
Vs. Bethune-Cook (3 points)
Vs. FSU (3 points)
Vs. Ga Tech (3 points)
Vs. Syracuse (3 points)
Vs. North Carolina (0 points)
Vs. Va Tech (0 points)
Vs. Virginia (7 points)
Vs. Pitt (0 points)
Vs. Clemson (0 points)

You would think that if LSU defense plays well, then we hold Miami to minimum points in the first Quarter and hopefully the whole first half. Which would give time for Burrow and offense to settle in and try and find some rhythm...

Also realize that Wisconsin DC was brought in and studied under Aranda... he’s done quite well and did pretty good in the bowl game last year against Miami. The breakdowns and notes have been shared and Miami will be exploited.

I attached the highlights from the last game Miami played against Wisconsin in the bowl game. I believe the game on Sunday will look a lot like this game except with a better defensive performance by LSU...

Check out The throws by Wisconsin QB... lots of back shoulder catches. The last TOUCHDOWN catch was over Miami’s Returning 5’9 corner who I think LSU wr’s are going to abuse.

Also a couple reads on Miami’s secondary from their perspective...

They will be better this year offensively.

Miami fed off of the defense and the TOs they created; similar to LSU in 2011.

Avoid TOs and Miami crumbles.

They will be playing a pretty salty defense. I'm not sure how you arrived at "they will be better offensively." But, I know they will be playing a defense MUCH closer to the ones they faced at the end of last season than they did at the beginning.

that would be a fricking dream. if they somehow get down early, I think that will get into Maliks head a little, I dont think hes polished enough for that, and then every snap gets more and more important. with breathing room, Aranda lets the gorillas loose.

bang the gavel.

done.

44-10

Agreed... I believe Miami’s defense is going to be down a slight notch.... however their offense will be up a slight notch.

Thathappens to play into LSU’s favor this year.

If burrow can make back shoulder throws to Marshall chase and Jefferson we should do it all day against that corner

Our defense will shut them down. It’s gonna be a slow day all around.

In the first half of the season Miami scored a majority of their points in the 4th quarter. Like some other posters have said, they thrive off the turnover. IMO, if you’re waiting for a turnover to spark your team against inferior opponents then you’re extremely beatable. Any defense with a pulse completely shut them down offensively. What do you think LSU D is going to do? Miami also get more desperate with their play calling and start chucking up bombs for either mass yardage or a score late in games to either extend the lead or for an attempted comeback.

Miami is going to play into our hands defensively. They are going to make this extremely capable defense look like world beaters in the second half.

Bold Prediction: Rosier will take 3+ sacks, throw 1 INT, and fumble (i.e., strip sack)

Sounds like you’re predicting an LSU vs Orgeron 2011! Lololol. I hope so.

Every Miami fan expects to score 30 on our D, which is hilarious. Nobody is gonna score 30 on our D, and if a team does, it'll probably be Georgia. Rosier is an average QB who struggled heavily at the end of the year, like really bad. If we can force a turnover early, we should be set for the rest of the game. Either way, Miami won't score over 20 points, and may not even score over 14, their offense was absolutely awful with one of the easiest schedules in college football last year.

He's not wired like that, I'm sure you saw him bring us back vs our biggest rival on the road with a minute to play.

He may have other faults but getting rattled isn't one of them.

You’re right! A major fault is that he gets itchy in the pocket and vacates resulting in either a scramble or a side arm throw out of the pocket. He has some success with that but many failures like INTS and sacks. But the guy won’t change his game, it’s who he is.

Be clear with your understanding of the following: LSU’s defense is poised to be as good or better than the 2011 defense. Rosier is fricked no matter how you try and spin it.
