I remember PE back at Sherwood Middle back in 1980. We played football, kickball, had a shotput event. We did long jumps and triple long jumps. Went inside for Winter and our class did high jumps and basketball.
Two weeks out of the year, we had health classes. Not sure what these kids are doing today.

Middle school for me started at 7th grade and ran through 8th. We didn't have recess in those grades.
Last grade I had recess was 6th.
Kids aren't fat asses because of no recess. They are just lazy or their shite parents don't monitor what they eat.

We didn't have recess in middle school. This was 1990-1993.

hen I was a kid, we would make fun of the kids that went to Lake Castle because they didn't have recess.

No more recess and 3 year olds now have "homework". The world has gone wacky.

If you expect recess at middle school to prevent your kid from being a fat arse you are cognitively deficient.

What about the parents? 90% of couples I see are fat fricks. It all starts in the home

I was gonna say the same thing. No wonder the child obesity numbers in this country is at an all time high. This country is fricking retarded.

Funny enough I was just talking to my daughter that is in middle school, she mentioned that she has two recess times, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. P.E. everyother day.
I was in middle school in the late 90's early 00's and we had 20 minutes for recess right after lunch, plus P.E. everyday. Highschool we had a lengthy lunch period to hang out for a while.

Why have recess where normal kids can burn off excess energy when you can just label them hyperactive and drug them?

I graduated hs in '09. We stopped having recess at the end of intermediate school. (5th grade)

We had lunch. You could finish the lunch early and high tale it to the basketball courts or the benches outside and gossip.
Or just skip lunch all together and get straight to a court

Went to Haynes Middle/Jr. High in Old Metairie, 6th-9th grade 1975-1979 (they switched from a middle school to a jr. high while I was there).
There was no recess back then, and certainly not in high school afterwards. And there was no preponderance of 'fat asses' either....

At my middle school (mid-late 80's) recess stopped after 5th grade, but we also had PE every year through the 8th grade. In high school you were only required to take one year of PE. If you played sports that counted as PE requirement. All athletes had "PE" 7th period (last of the day) and that is when we would start practice. If you were not a multiple sport athlete you could just go home early if it was the off-season of your sport.

I was in middle school in the mid 90s and we didn’t have recess. We mostly sat around a picnic table and talked for forty minutes.
