Let's take a look at who will be our short yardage backs this year.

I haven't seen it discussed too much (haven't seen much discussed about actual football tbh), but I think we have 3 guys that will compete to be our short yardage guy when we really need it. I think we are all clueless at this point who the MAIN guy will be halfway through the season when he start to grasp who can get it done.
I think Chris Curry and Brossette are the obviously first thoughts, but I have think Tory Carter can be the dark house. The dude is an absolute tank. I'd like to see how hard it is to take him down with a couple carries early in the year.
The guy who I'm fascinated with is Chris Curry. Youtube video. (turn volume off)
He is a mixture of a poor man's Marshawn Lynch and Mark Ingram. Very round with a low center of gravity that kinda looks like a bowling ball bouncing back and forth with bumpers on.
Bottom Line, our offensive line will have a tough task in certain games like State and Bama, but we'll need somebody to consistently help on 3rd and 1's. I hope we are pleasantly surprised by one of these guys.

Reminds me of Spencer Ware coming out of high school.

He really does look like Lynch out there, granted it is high school. I love how he keeps his feet moving, doesn't go down easy, and lays a frickin lick on the first guy unfortunate enough to be in his way!

I would think CEH. The kid’s built like a bowling ball at 5’7 220. He always has leverage at his height to keep his legs moving and gain short yardage.

Not the smoothest runner and will need to learn to focus on heading north south instead of getting creative in the backfield.
I think running with such loose hips makes him more difficult to tackle in the open field.

Curry will be the "go to" back. CEH will be a 8-10 carry back.

Still no mention of the GOAT Ducre.
Looked like Herschel Walker in high school. (4A Lakeshore in Mandeville)
Can't get on the field at LSU.
Attitude? Academics/Grades? Soft? Doesn't want to/Can't block? Doesn't know the playbook/assignments?

I'm really not a fan of guys who rarely carry the ball getting it at the goal line
See Copeland vs Bama 2012

Heard he is now at tight end and doing well. Hope he s found his position.

A friend of mine who coaches in that part of the state told me from day one that Ducre had no football IQ. He was so much bigger, stronger and faster than anyone else, he could just plow over everyone in high school. He said he was easy to read, but hard to bring down.
My friend has been 100% accurate on prospects from his area, adamantly saying we should take Forte and while he might not come here anyway, Michael Mauti was really interested in going to LSU. He said while Mauti would have never been a superstar, he was a great football player and would have been a solid player.

quote:I didnt mean any disrespect to him. But I dont look at him as that type of back to get that 1 yard. Maybe he’ll prove me wrong.
CEH

Great comparison. This guy is not going to give us the breakaway TDs we got from Hill, Guice and Fournette, but he'll be tough on safeties.

What is the early assessment on Provens? Is he more of a third down back?

Curry isn't going to outrun a lot of people but he's rarely brought down by one person. He works for his yards. Tough runner.

I would give it to Devin White on any third and one and be confident I had the best RB on the team for that job.
