I'll be in Hammond training for the week looking for lunch and dinner recs. One evening, I'm planning on heading down the road to Middendorfs, other than that I'm open. Thanks in advance.

Salty Joe’s bbq is a cool place with good food.

Several good places downtown to eat. Kate Street has a good atmosphere and good food. Kirin for sushi.

I’d plan the Middendorf’s trip for one evening when the weather is nice and sit outside by the water.

Mariners for a burger, loaded tator, and a cold beer.

Hi ho bbq sammich, chips, and a barqs for lunch.

If looking for a nicer dinner, I prefer Buddy’s over some of the “fancy” places downtown.

Nola mia food truck pizza for lunch if you have somewhere to bring it.

Walk around downtown and go into any place there and you will be satisfied. Hammond downtown punches well above its weight class when it comes to food.

We'll here's my follow up. Made it to Tommy's, Brady's, and Lee's. Luna Rosa from Tommy's was pretty damn good. I have a new found appreciation for Hammond. How nice it was there actually surprised me. SLU is quite a bit bigger than I thought it was.
Disappointed I never made it to Middendorfs, really wanted to but couldn't squeeze it in.
Spent two days going to other sites, that I wasn't expecting.
Had lunch in Franklinton at a small pizza joint that had a really tasty hamburger poboy.
Overall good experience looks like I may be heading back in Feb. for two more weeks.

University Doughnuts for breakfast. Daily lunch specials also. They have a real good breakfast menu besides doughnuts.
