I just finished The Lies of Locke Lamora (the first book in the series).

MAN! It started slow, but once you get past the first 4-5 chapters, it just gets better and better.

Starting the second book now.

It's the best fantasy book I've ever read.

I agree but I loved he first few chapters as well.

The flashbacks to their youth was some of the best parts.

Now damnit Lynch... finish the next book

Great book for sure, I am curious to see where it goes - the uncontested power of the bondsmage in the world was a bit annoying for my tastes, about the only "complaint" I had.

ETA: Got about 100 pages into Book 2, last night and am definitely enjoying it thus far.

I think I am the only person that didn’t like this book. I liked the world building, the cities with the giant crystal towers were cool, but the story was just a big bag of meh to me. I kept thinking the protagonist had some master plot in motion, but he pretty much stayed incompetent to the end.

Sorry, man, as a general rule, I can’t do fantasy, if that’s what the series is about.
