A buddy of mine has got into a lease in kaplan this year and is going to be doing guided hunts. There is another rice field that from what he says is 22 acres with a 4 man sunkin blind. The farmer handles everything. Blind is 5k if you got any question or are interested text him at 2253243315

That is all the details i was told but i figured i would share it with the OB

It is crazy what people are asking for blinds these days. I had an offer to split a 4 man blind @ $1,750 per man. Its a $7,000 blind that shot less than 100 ducks last year. The sad thing is, they have a wait list for it.

Very similar here. I got asked to split 8,000 4 ways for around 200 birds, or 40 a bird. I said no thanks. Duck hunting is number one in my book but I get invited enough every year to scratch my itch.

Well, i am pondering a blind for my son for $5,000 that IS primo. While not a baller, spending that kind of money for teal and 60 days makes me queezy. Generally if it's on the market it's also going to be pretty chitty. Very little south of Kaplan is worth more than a grand per year. The Liberty Farm rd blinds are so close you can carry a conversation with the other blinds.

We shoot squealers just for the fricking fun of it when we get bored with deer hunting.

Now, for the fat ducks, we wade flooded timber, or motor up past Phil Robertson's house on Cypress Creek, in my "one dimensional" bass boat to our lil ole floating blind....

Free, of course.....well, unless you consider the cost of the deer lease.

20 of us lease 3500 acres from a large timber company for a whole lot less than that blind!!!!

AND, I bet we kill a shite ton more birds....

This all day. A good blind that produces will never hit the open market, especially a message board. Run, don't walk, away from any blind that is pimped over the internet.

Unless I had young kids or had the opportunity to hunt all the time, getting locked down to a lease in just one spot doesn't appeal to me anymore. I would much rather pick a number of good outfitters and do pay hunts. Much easier to be successful, then fill in the gaps with either public or invites.

Well, if ya shooting them for free at sunup and sundown, while letting the deer stand "cool off", you have some serious gumbo and dressing fixings.....

Exactly. I have some family and friends that have decent blinds and usually have an outstanding invitation every weekend. If they are full, I'll probably end up fishing.

No idea and doesnt really concern me, i got mostly out of duck hunting when i spent all of hunting season working 4 10's in Montana and killing a limit every day i was off.. Just isnt fun fighting everybody on public land down here

My grandfather who passed away years ago lived near Kaplan. All these farmers use to put rotten sweet potatoes in the field to attract ducks and limit out on ducks. When the game warden would come around they would all go from barn to barn hiding.

Eventually they hired my Uncle as a game warden who could speak Cajun French and knew how to catch them.

22 acres? Just for fun, if that is a square piece of land, its just over 300 yards wide. That means you'd have to have the blind on the opposite edge to be 300 yards from the neighboring piece. He needs to find some rookie sky busting idiots to lease that to.

I wouldn’t lease anything under 100 acres. But then again I hate when the neighbors half a mile away hunt the same days as me

Except flooding it properly and maintaining the property. Hell, he will even allow others to hunt it if you're not there. Ask me and KR how we know...

Kaplan is played out.

500 birds per season is my min for any lease to be worthy of paying $$$. Leased a M O Miller place in P I in 05 & 06 that was good for >1,000 but the price went up and the caretaker killed it for ducks trying to raise cattle. Think they still get >$50,000 for less than 400 ac.
