Rushing the passer & blitzing are different skill sets. Each of his LB positions have their own profile for a reason.
His ILB generally won’t be interchangeable with the OLB. Devin White for instance is a good blitzer but not necessarily a pass rusher. Blitzing success is usually a function of the scheme, not the player.

Truth is, Orgeron, and this staff are premium talent evaluaters. There are loads of unsung overlooked mega talented players in Orgeron's classes that the little dick stargazers can't comprehend.
There were many who said that Scott was a Blue chip recruit that somehow was not getting his due. When people realize that "top ranked classes" are for sale by these know nothing recruiting sites, the better.

Pass rushing skills really don’t hurt in blitzing though do they?
Also this guy is an athlete and if he isn’t a polished pass rusher the coaches may like molding to other skills sets too.

Dantrieze Scott was the lowest rated player in our class. I'm sure Coach O wanted the top rated players he pursued but missed on but he also really liked the ones he got or he wouldn't have offered them. He seems to have a knack for recognizing talent that the recruiting services don't

Like who?
I like a lot of our players and I get Ferriday isn’t going to be scouted very hard, but you’re saying this and I dont Know who you have to back it up as true.

The kid is a stud that played at a small school.
He will make a name for himself before he leaves LSU.

from the 2017 class since to early to eval 2018
People didn't even want Tory Carter in that class. Turned out to be a beast his true freshman year.
Justin Jefferson, 77th ranked player in Louisiana, now starting.
those are 3 of the lowest rated players fro 2017 class
Racy McMath 609th ranked player in the country. Camp reports are he is the real deal.

Great post. I hate to say it but we could really use a beast at tight end with the injury situation. If for only this season to add some depth. But he is probably a little light in the pants this year to help much. But he does have good hands and decent speed. But, I agree that he will be a special talent in a few years.

More to do with his position than his ability, and he was the 3rd ranked FB in the country behind a guy from Morgantown who went to WVU and the former coaches son. He also committed in May.

Until they do something on the field they are examples. outside of a spring game TD that should have been blown dead and the defense played like it was, Jefferson hasn’t done anything.

You haters are desperate. Orgeron don't plan to ever lose a big recruit. That must have been Miles' plan. What Orgeron's plan is to do his homework on every potential LSU Tiger, and he has. He has loaded up on overlooked ballers who will become impact players. Hate to break it to you, but impact players are 5* recruits regardless of what a no nothing recruiting site tells you.
Posted on 8/14/18 at 12:41 pm to MrBrutus
So are you saying O doesn’t want the 5* he offers that commit elsewhere or that O recruits and Scott many players and has players to offer if the 5*s sign else where.
Like a plan.
Of course judging by how we handled the Surtain situation this year it is pretty clear doesn’t have a plan when he loses his top recruits.

The Firm was a transfer from Indiana and was pretty decent there.
The others are all pretty good points.
But that’s 3/ how many?
What makes O better at this than any other coach who takes a bunch of 3 stars?

I’m not researching every player O has recruited or coached over the past 25 years. He is known for his recruiting. I think part of that is the number of all pros and hall of famers he’s coached/recruited/evaluated.
I’m not pimping O, I do respect his recruiting ability and the talent he amassed at the schools he coached in the passed. I’m sure, along the way he evaluated and developed a number of players who were not five star guys and they turned into something.
Love him, hate him. It’s hard to deny his eye for talent and recruiting ability. Especially when the best in the business all acknowlege how good he is at it. I just provided names off the top of my head. Dexter Mcluster is another. I’m sure there are many more. It’s looking like Charles, Ferrell, Jefferson, Scott, Lewis, etc very well could be under rated guys that are pushing for starting roles at LSU.

I think we need to come up with another name besides freak.
Our last freak was mediocre at best

Charles was a 4 star
Ferrell and Scott aren’t pushing for anything
Lewis’s and jwfferson will probably start but It’s yet to be seen if that’s a good thing.
