Why do folks think people can protest at work if their employer says no?

If I walked into work and staged some protest that my employer disagrees with, I would be reprimanded. If I continued to do it, I’d be fired.
I’m sure the same goes for all of you.
How is it that the NFL players protesting on company time is defended?

Other than the player's union, who's defending them?

FREEDOM of SPEECH
Is what all the ignorant people will claim.

The NFL said there would be consequences a couple of months ago.
Then they they said "never mind, we need to discuss this more".

My wife's work voted to attend a protest on work hours, and the boss reluctantly said ok.

The simple fact of the matter is you’d be a hell of a lot easier to replace than an NFL player, plus your employer wouldn’t have to suffer any bogus “racism” backlash.

i mean if the company doesn't have a policy against it and hasn't put out a specific statement not to on company time, by all means.
but you wouldn't catch me emailing my management asking if i could take a day to protest something because my feelings were hurt.

Your wife's boss is a pussy if he paid them for leaving work to protest.

Last I heard there were a few free agents who cannot find jobs with teams, I wanna say a couple of DBs and a DLineman and of course Kaepernick, because they are kneelers.
That's how to deal with this.
They'll sue claim discrimination but the legal bills for the NFL will be far far less than the lost revenue the kneelers are causing.
What did they lose last season as a league in TV revenue and jersey sales? Over $400 million right?
