Favorite Topwater Lure for Specks

I’ve always fished with soft plastics for specks (H&H Cocoho minnows, Matrix shads, and Gulps), but this morning I was wading and the trout were hitting top water. I caught a 12” speck and an 18” redfish on a Matrix shad.
For the gulf coast (I’m around Bay St Louis), what is a good all around topwater lure? I fish a spinning reel, 7’ med action rod with fast tip and 14# line.
I’ve never fished topwater before so tips would also be appreciated!

Serious question, I only get to target specs a handful of times a year, but does it really matter? My experience has been that specs aren't picky when you find them hitting on top.

All of them.
Seriously though my go-to's are usually a pink Matrix Mullet(swap the hooks out for bigger hooks), Golden Mullet colored Skitterwalk, or the clown colored topdog.

As long as you can work it, most of the popular ones seem to work just fine. I usually go with a She Dog or She Pup

Good call. Prom night Matrix Mullet has worked well for me as well. Easy to walk.
I also second the ShePup. IM partial to Yellowish/chrome. I think they all work.

Fished the same area with this one all spring. It is scratched to hell from all the trout toofs. But as someone else said, it doesn't usually matter what color. Just learn to walk it well and when to set the hook.

Hometown baw.
Rapala Skitterwalk has proven to be my go to topwater over the past few years. I don't think color makes a big difference but my favorites are Bone/Charteuse and Red Head/White.
My #2 would be Mirrolure She Dog or Top Dog Jr.
This is what is usually at the end of my line

That is fun.
I love to throw topwater.
When you get that side to side walk going and see that wave coming toward the lure it’s the longest few seconds of your life.
I love when they slap it to the side, you twitch it like it is dieing, and come back to eat it or slam it.
It is just fun.
