TDS and the Bernie angle have created a real home for the extreme/alt-Left
This is exactly what happens when you’re out to win elections— rather than represent a constituency.

This is one reason why a parliamentary system would benefit people at large. The Democrats have been a collection of sometimes competing interests since the New Deal coalition. It would be more beneficial to everyone, in my view, in a country as diverse and dispersed as America, to move to a parliamentary system. That way coalitions can be up for grabs, and not historically determined, as has been the case for large blocks of Dem voters.

i think a Parliamentary system would be supremely beneficial for the right in the US
until 2016 the DEMs were pretty consistent in terms of supporting the party. this fracturing is recent and will likely pass for moderation
the GOP is the one who has had problems since 2004 or so rallying national support (Trump is an extreme outlier). allowing coalitions would benefit the right greatly and they'd have a much better shot at the executive via PM

Someone may have already said this but you could probably say the same thing about GOP in 2015-2016.

the GOP has been a loose collection of national interest groups for a while, surely since the Tea Party (at the latest)
you have the libertarian types, the rich/business types, the religious/social conservatives, the suburban crowd, etc
those different groups still exist. Trump just carved a new path (by being DEM-lite) and it's unlikely anyone can follow his lead moving forward

It's a well known fact that 98.9% of liberals are pathological liars. The remaining 1.1% are just liars.

however, the DEM to my knowledge wasn't even presented as a far-Left candidate, so the only option for the far-Left was the Green candidate.
The dirty little secret in all of these close special elections is the Dem candidate ran as a very centrist, even somewhat conservative, candidate. The media definitely won't tell you that, though. These elections are close because the Dem is lying to the voters about who they are to steal independents and disgruntled conservatives.
Dems can't run as who they actually are and win and they know it.

Of course, I assume at this point that Trumps strategy includes getting a chunk of the black vote, and if he does that, nothing else matters.
He'd be smart to avoid getting into Twitter wars with LeBron or Don Lemon. Don't give the left any anmo.

they can, in certain races
they cannot, in races like this (or the Jones/Moore one)
i think the coordinated DEM-media message has shifted. remember after they played the moderate card with Ossof the post-loss narrative was "WE ARE LOSING BECAUSE WE'RE NOT REPRESENTING OUR VALUES!" one? after finally getting handed victory with Jones, that's softened and they're now creating the DEM/DSA dichotomy where the DEMs can be moderate (if needed) and the DSA people can float in as DEMs or outsiders
the issue is the Green party isn't in this clique and they're steaming b/c they won't get on board with the coordination

All the socialists across the nation need to come together and form their own party. They'll need a catchy name. *National Socialists* seems to describe them pretty well.
