100th PGA Championship at Bellerive

Big Week
Greens aren't in good shape, summer heat beat them up. Rest of course is in excellent shape. Long and narrow course, could be a good recipe for Rickie to make a run.
Going to practice tomorrow, then going on Thursday and Sunday!
Somehow it looks like we're going to avoid STL's August summer's, Only high 80's and below 70 humidity.
Anyone coming in?

Some of those pics are from off the green. They certainly don't look perfect. But neither does TPC during the Zurich. The pros don't complain though because the greens still roll fine. We will see how they look/roll by Thursday. And there may be some questions answered by pros during the practice rounds.

Any tips for a first time tournament goer?

Parking is going to be a nightmare.
A lot of people will be ubering to Westminster christian academny and taking the free shuttle from there to BCC. I think im going to the buffalo wild wings(opening up early for this) and ubering from there.
Other than that, I have nothing yet.
Where are you staying

I'll be staying in St. Charles
Can you not just uber directly to Bellerive?

You can. I believe the shuttle drop off is the same at ubers. The issue will be the surge/wait time for uber. Look into Lyft, not used nearrrly as much in stl as uber.

Gonna be hard to not go with Dustin in this one. He's playing really well.

How do greens get burnt out in an environment where you have total control of the watering process?

quote:You only have control while the course is closed: at night or off days. When it's dry and hot, there are golfers on it. Yes, you can water overnight, but people have certain expectations for a PGA course: fast greens. Which means short and hard. And that can lead to burnt.

He's gunna have to play a draw instead of his cut off of the tee. Almost every hole is a dog leg to the left.
I would venture to say whoever has good distance and predominantly plays a draw off of the tee will win

Explain to the Marshalls that it's your first tournament, and they will let you walk inside the ropes. Sometimes they even let you give tips to the caddies and Pros.

Bentgrass greens where they will have to water heavily nights before. Morning waves will putt better than evening. Bentgrass in the summer rarely look good.
