I’m currently working my way through “The Secret History of the Mongols”, I’m also reading “Mongol Conquests throughout History”.
I don’t want a Genghis Khan biography, I’ve read a few and know about him well enough.
Anybody who’s interested in this stuff have any gems they know of?
It’s really hard to find anything since these people generally didn’t write anything down

I buy every lecture Kenneth Harl makes. I like his gravelly voice and down to earth style.

There’s a lot of good content on the great courses series
I’m just looking specifically for steppe tribe stuff right now though

GO to dan Carlin’s website and look at the mongols podcast and he posts all the books he read/researched for the show.
That should have anything you’d need

This area of the world and its history fascinates me, spent a month in Central Asia 15 years ago. Not necessarily recommending because it's quite old but it is a good book to have around if interested in the Steppe.

Our Chinese history professor required The Devil’s Horsemen for part I of his course.
I only took part II :(
