Seems to me, anyone whose "life is ruined by social media" was pretty much destined to have their life ruined at some point absent that vehicle being in existence.

Normal healthy people aren't having their "lives ruined" because there's this new thing out there that wasn't there before.

I guess, maybe you could argue it's an accelerator to this ruination for some, but perhaps in some instances that could be a good thing.
