CNN

I'm sorry, but what did they think would happen when they tried to visit a federal military installation?

Long-time reader; I finally created an account to get in on the discussion over illegal immigrant's rights. It seems to be an incredibly polarizing issue as of late, and I cannot help but notice the escalation on both sides, however the left's bias has been much more noticeable. Here is an example of an article that shows zero objective reporting.

Have you been to CNN lately? It is frankly quite sad. Even during the Obama administration, I would read CNN to gather an alternate viewpoint. However, I feel as if they are rapidly reaching a point of no return when it comes to their credibility.

Concepción and Margarito Silva were hoping to enjoy July 4th with their daughter and son-in-law at Fort Drum, an Army base in upstate New York.

The incident began when Concepción and Margarito Silva went to Fort Drum to visit their daughter and her husband, a sergeant in the 10th Mountain Division who has twice been deployed to Afghanistan, according to CNN affiliate Spectrum News NY1.

The Silvas attempted to enter the military base near Watertown, New York without approved identification, according to Julie Halpin, spokeswoman at Fort Drum. They presented their municipal New York City ID cards, which were not deemed sufficient, Spectrum News NY1 reported.

Why does the left believe a violation of this crime should somehow be over-looked?

Because the sooner the United States looks like Juarez or Nuevo Laredo the sooner they can continue their “fundamental change of America”

End of story.

In order to enter a Military Installation UNESCORTED, you're required to present one of the following:

-U.S. Passport
-Military ID
-Driver's License

The simple solution would be for the grandchildren to escort them in.

Wow that was really dumb of them. Surely the son-in-law had no idea because he would have told them not to attempt this.

You can't gain un-escorted access to a military installation by passport or drivers license alone.

You could be contained on a list of expected visitors after having been vouched for by a known military or civil service member from that installation. Even then, the person that vouched for them usually has to meet them at the gate/visitors center which would mean they are not un-escorted.

One exception would be an open house/air show type event.

Media members are usually met by public affairs personnel.

Correct.

I live on an AF base. My mom comes to visit about 4 times a year. I have to sign her on every time. She shows driver's license, car registration, and proof of insurance every single time. I have to present my ID as the sponsor.

Once they run her paperwork, she gets a pass and I'm responsible for her. If she so much as speeds, I'm held responsible. There is a pass where they can enter and leave unescorted, but initially they must be sponsored.

I frequent Fort Leavenworth KS several times each year for my job. They needed my drivers license and SS #, after a quick background check they issued a pass for the work location/building. Occasionally they will check out my company vehicle for certain items, lol!

It's past time for a national ID card. I don't see any downside to us all having one.

And here is the problem with cities giving IDs like this to illegals. They think it works outside of their sanctuary city. it's sad, but the hard truth. Needs to stop.

Like some california town or city that is going to allow them to vote in local elections. The fact that they cant vote in full state or national elections wont be remembered. I'd say any town/city like that cant have their state/national votes counted if they feel their local ones are more important.

Here is your first mistake. There is NO SUCH THING as an illegal “Immigrant”.

They are illegal aliens, or if you prefer, illegal foreign nationals. Either way, they should not be here. Period.

This is a problem for posts and bases that allow a drivers license to permit entry - because some areas are giving illegals licenses now.

Army soldier married to an illegal...chances he gets a security clearance? A Lt who was a student in a course I schedule married an illegal, then tried to conceal it. Stripped of clearance and removed from course.

Wonder if the Army knew about his marriage???

Possibly the daughter was born in the US, but the parents were illegal? So the soldier's wife was legal perhaps?
