God forbid a player fumble or throw an int or miss a kick or a tackle and they not be accountable for their own mistake that has a direct fricking impact on the game.
of course players make some mistakes that aren't the fault of coaches. If they drop a wide open TD pass or slip and miss a tackle, that's not on the coaches.

But a football game has over 100 plays. So the overall outcome of a game shouldn't be blamed on an isolated blunder by a player here or there. It's ALL on the coaches. It's THEIR responsibility to game plan, motivate, adjust in-game. They're paid huge money - and it's on them.

Just like a CEO is held accountable for a company's performance, and a teacher is responsible for their students' test score, etc. The leader of ANY organization is held responsible for final results.

Preparation and execution are two totally different things.

Coaches prepare
Players execute

BOTH have to happen to have success.
