How big of a deal is this? What happens to those of us in flood zones if this expires? Seems like a big deal but not much news coverage.

This happens all the time.
Posted on 7/20/18 at 2:16 pm to Chad504boy
Really? Is it an annual thing?
Posted on 7/20/18 at 2:16 pm to LSUsmartass
Not nearly as important as Trump literally handing over the reins of government to Putin

The article says it expires for people purchasing houses after the expiration. It would greatly mess with people in the home buying process(that's in a flood zone).

Move out of a flood zone and stop relying on government bailout.

So it won't affect current homeowners with flood policies? Even when it comes time for renewal?
Posted on 7/20/18 at 2:18 pm to LSUsmartass
I thought it was extended through Jan 2019?

They could just, you know, not buy a house in a flood zone. Pretty basic principle imo. The federal government doesn’t need to be subsidizing poor decision making anyways

it's included in the national budget every time they having to negotiate this and that... the politicians in the northeast and north act like they never flood and flooding is a southern and coastal problem to deal with... they think private flood insurance would cure the world and they are about as far wrong as thinking hillary would have made a great president.

Every house is in a flood zone, technically.

you do know a) all homes are in a flood zone... but getting past that, b) homes in preferred zones flood all the time and some mortgage companies require flood no matter what. c) i wouldn't buy a house period without flood protection available.
