re: I'm starting the Coach E bandwagon. Who's on board?

according to Lester, miles tight end coach had been going around the country learning nuances of offenses. While Lsus offense stayed stagnant
I never said he is going around the country learning offenses.
My point is centered around the fact that the last time we saw him call plays was in 2016. There wasnt anything archaic about it. People keep acting like he went into a coma for 20 years, and all of a sudden is going to have call plays.
He's a smart guy. He's picked up a little something from all the coaches he's been around over the years. He's more than qualified

Cam wouldnt have done a dam thing. His play calling was stagnant.

Because I don't know everything and neither do you.
What does that have to do with anything? Your initial worry about it being a terrible looking hire was a good one. It WAS a terrible looking hire.
quote:
We aren't football experts, I know a lot of you think you are, but you're not.
Has nothing to do with anything you or I said about what you first posted.

When he was hired, we all showed our "wtf" faces but Coach E hasn't shown, IN ANY WAY, that he's incapable.
Again, we have no idea what he's capable of as an OC. The fact that he's said some things that sound good in the summer have no bearing at all on whether or not this will work out in any way. You're just describing wishful thinking.
quote:
He's shown more positives than negatives and it's time we admit that.
He has yet to call ONE GAME as LSU's full time OC.
Again...this has nothing to do with Steve. He's a former Tiger and unlike Orgeron he actually IS one of us int hat regard. I take no pleasure in having to point this stuff out...but until he proves otherwise this job looks to have been beyond him. Otherwise, he'd have almost certainly been doing in some time in the past two decades.

No one has said that except you.
If you can’t distinguish between calling plays out of someone else’s playbook and scheming your own offense..well then let’s just agree to end the conversation there

bashing him for breaking records is a bit ridiculous. He did a good job, considering.
No one is bashing him. The description was that his interim stint was a "great job", and the support for that was a couple of records against the worst ranked rush defenses that we faced (while having a very good rushing offense).
Others just pointed out that when we faced a defense with a pulse, we did not do much of anything (e.g., against Bama).

quote:yea he did that vs terrible defenses using Cameron’s system and plays. That doesn’t give me confidence he can run his own system and call his own plays
Went 6-2 with someone else's offense in the SEC 2 years ago. Oh, and broke LSU offensive records.
Posted on 7/13/18 at 3:10 pm to TchPowDog
the “broke records” arguement is so fricking tired
Crowton broke records
Cam broke records
It didn’t mean shite when you fold like
A bitch when the defenses get tough.

This is how far the bar has been lowered. He absolutely was not qualified for the LSU OC job.

He was calling Cam's offense

Great.
So...he hasn't been a full time Power 5 conference OC for the past 2 decades...by choice?

Well, he did. Every year we play soft teams and yes he broke records against softer teams, .... but he still did it.
Have you bothered to look up some of these records that were broken and when the previous record was set?
Bet you’d be amazed to find out how many of them were set between 2005-2015.

lol if you think that is what went on

So we installed a completely different playbook when he took over?
Or are we going back to the playbook threat brought us 125 yards and 0 points vs Alabama.
What did you like about the gameplan vs Alabama in 2016?

Wait...you think he instilled his own offense in the off week after Les was shite canned?

I'm cautiously on board.. Miami is a well coached team with talent on both sides of the ball. They have an established QB that is pretty good. I will wait to give "E" an "A" till after this first game.

was on board from the begining, at least give the man the length of his cntract. I am sure the bottom 105 teams in Div 1 would like to have him
we do not know them all but ......
owe them all

against defenses Cameron would’ve gashed.
No, I disagree. Cameron (Miles) offense was struggling big time. Ensminger's tweaks, (which is all Cameron had to do) was a breath of fresh air. He did a good job.

The bama game was an abortion
smh His tweaked offense was not good enough to beat bama. but he did a good job for the interim, considering. Plain and Simple. smh

I never said it was a terrible looking hire. Why would you say this????

Yes, it does. Who are we to judge on play calling and X's and O's. In general, all we should be justified in saying is "Offenses are changing and spreading out, we want implemented the type of offense that works".
quote:
Again, we have no idea what he's capable of as an OC.
Really?? None?? Are you sure about that?

So when he took over in 2016, he was a part-time OC - wtf are you talking about??? He called every play in 8 games that year.
