Marlins announce record low 5,265 fans tonight. But, to their credit, at least they didn’t lie about the number like 90% of professional sports teams.

That's like playing against the Greenville Drive.

But the Greenville Drive game is probably WAY louder and more intimidating.

Judging from the pictures, 5,260 or so were probably in the Clevelander

Should have moved to central Texas when they had the chance. But no, enjoy your fancy new stadium. Rays are next. Florida market is dead

It's such a sad sight. I really feel bad for players that are stuck there for years.

I went to a Marlins game 2 weeks ago. Great fan experience. Team just sucks.

Look back at some of the attendance figures in the supposed Golden Age of America's Pastime. You'll see a few teams putting up Florida Marlin's attendance numbers.

Baseball is not dead it's just regional. It's the same way for college baseball.

More to the point I think folks follow their favorite team.

I watch the Cubs religiously. I get MLB network just to watch them and if I'm home when they play I'm watching them. I go to at least one series at Wrigley every year and usually a road series. I watch LSU baseball too. But I rarely watch even an inning of any other MLB game and as for college if LSU ain't playing I'm not the least bit interested in watching....could be No. 1 vs. No. 2 and I'm just not interested.

And I think this is pretty common. It's not a national sport anymore, but I think regionally the fans are still passionate for their teams and baseball is fine.

Garbage team + garbage stadium location + garbage fan support = garbage attendance. Imagine being the poor sap that has to try to sell advertising in the stadium - the most fans that place will see for the next decade was last years all star game.

That is just sad... LSU baseball averages twice that per game.

I would think just the fact that it’s a Major League Baseball game would be enough to get maybe 15K or so, even for a team that hasn’t been worth a shite since the early 2000’s.

This. I'm not a huge baseball guy, I just make an effort to watch my team (more difficult now that I'm out of market).

Derek Jeter should have just kept slaying trim in retirement.

But Derek Jeter told us attendance would increase despite trading away Stanton.

Things to do in Miami during the summer outside of Marlins baseball >>>>>>>>> Things to do in BR during the spring outside of LSU baseball

Also, LSU isn't actively trying to suck in baseball like the Marlins.

I don't blame the fans. Loria was such a terrible human. He shafted the city. Would never build and maintain a strong system. You cant live on free agency and expect your fans to really get into certian players.

Agree 100% which is why the Stanton trade stung so badly. He was a Marlins product. Hopefully the farm system improves the quality of the product
