Holy crap!

Amazon is about to take over the gaming industry. Ive seriously considered preordering like 5 games because of the savings.

Am I late to the party on this one?

I would rather not pre-order anything. Savings or no, that’s a risky proposition.

it used to be that you got 20% off for simply buying a new game.... them were the good ol' days

They just scaled it back by a good bit recenty too. Now, remasters and HD collections no longer qualify. They cut out collector's editions a few months ago.

They did this in response to Best Buy not renewing any memberships for their version of this program. ($30 for 2 years of 20% off ALL GAMES at any time). Thankfully, I have Best Buy's membership until 2020, so I'm good till the end of the generation.

I still think this is such a weird exclusion.

Agreed. You’re gambling that the game won’t suck balls. I was one of the idiots who pre-ordered no man’s sky I wasn’t too pissed though, I got a lot of hours out of it. O

And more and more games are doing press blackouts and other tactics to either suppress information about the game prior to release or to paint an overly rosey picture through influencers.

Sometimes those games still turn out to be good (like Doom), but more often than not... they don’t. I am not going to take that risk. If it’s worth some bucks for you’ll that’s fine. Count me out though.

You're very late

They used to do the 20% for preorders and actually a little while after the game released. I think they cut it down to strictly pre-orders now but that's definitely still a very nice deal considering if you have a game you know you want to order beforehand.

Best buy offers this, but with rewards back for the 30 dollar gamers club, which last 2 years.

Best buy's still is a better deal IMO

Tried to pre order Tomb Raider but didn't get the 20%. Of course the game comes out just as I am leaving for Prague.

After release day, the 20% off doesn't apply. I don't preorder much, but the games I do, I feel a lot better about paying $48.
