To be fair it sounds like this all happened fast. The Pels offered Rondo what he demanded, the full MLE, then he chose to up his odds at another ring by joining LeBron. I get that AD would have liked the chance to talk him out of it, but unless he was going to be in the war room I'm not sure keeping him in the loop on this one was reasonable. Not to mention I don't think AD could have talked him out of it. Rondo got the money he wanted and the best odds at a ring. Why would he stay?

CA is a high tax state, so a contract with the Pels would actually net him more money after taxes.

Also lakers are not contenders either.

Yeah this is really dumb. We offered him the full MLE. There was literally zero else we could do. He took 400k more to go play with Lebron in LA.

This is a non-controversy.
