For people that have played this game - what are the swing mechanics like? Do you pull back a joystick then push it forward similar to Tiger Woods / EA golf games or do you press a button.

I kinda want to buy this game but I'm not really interested in the whole "build up your club house" thing. I just want to know if the actual golf gameplay is enjoyable and worth the $30.

I enjoy it. Never played tiger woods or ea golf games, but the swing mechanic is pull back control stick and push forward. I've read complaints about the controls, but they have worked just fine for me using an Xbone controller... Might be that I just got used to it more easily since I've never played any other golf video game.

I play it just to play golf as well, don't care about customization or rankings.

I do just fine off the tee with the mouse, the issue is putting. It’s only an issue because I suck at it.

This is what Golf Club is best for. I think it's the most real sim of all the golf games and most fun

It’s definitely more challenging than tiger woods. I got to a point where I was shooting in the 50s on TW. This game definitely brought me back down to earth.

Aside from control complaints, most people weren't happy about the lack of official PGA courses and gear.

The Golf Club 3 is endorsed by the PGA, so that should broaden the appeal. I love golf games, but I never grabbed The Golf Club. That will change with 3.

I don't really understand the hate with the lack of sponsorship. I just want to play a good golf game and don't really care about all the other stuff

Swing mechanics are just like TW but without smashing R2 for spin. They have 3 different sets of clubs that change the difficulty of the swing. If you use beginner clubs you’re going to hit the ball consistently straight but you won’t have the distance and ability to draw/fade. The pro clubs have the distance and the ability to shape the shots but you have to be perfect with the joystick.

My biggest gripe about the game is the golfer doesn’t level up, you’re pretty much just stuck being a mediocre golfer. It needs a more developed career mode where you start as an amateur and work your way up to beast mode.

And the online course creator is awesome, you can download perfect replications of every decent course in America. Sawgrass, Augusta, pineburst, pebble, or basically any course that has hosted a PGA event are available for free.

If I were you, I wouldn't spend the $30 on TGC2. TGC3 is coming out in August sometime so you would be better off waiting.

game looks fantastic but the mechanics are complete shite - physics are terrible and random - shots make no sense

I’m not such a purist but I fell in love with this game. Putting doesn’t seem overtly difficult, the endless course options is fantastic, and while the graphics are a little clunky at times I think they did a good job capturing the different landscapes

Do you have a link on this? Can't find it. Most vidya websites are blocked at work.
