I don’t think I’ve ever seen a star that bright. Is that Jupiter or Venus?

That’s not a star, that’s a satellite.

Venus is the brightest planet, and it’s very prominent this month in the west after sunset. Throughout June, Venus appears as a dazzling evening “star.” Look for Venus to adorn the western evening sky until October 2018.

According to the Sky View Free App on my phone, it is Venus sitting in the western sky. She, and Mercury, are flanking the crab of Cancer. Jupiter is in the southern sky sitting atop Libra's scale.
