I'm sorry to hear it. There are usually negative consequences somewhere for every policy action taken. I hope she can find a new job soon.

Except that the domestic economy is exploding and there has never been a better time to be a job seeker. As someone who works/attends at least 5 enormous trade shows a year, I will guarantee two things. OP's wife is attractive and well spoken. She could literally get a job within the week. Hell, I'll bet they call her back within 90 days.

They put together a huge "teas around the world" type book recently, and the Chinese print shop held their book hostage and would not print it until they "corrected" a map in the book that showed Thailand as a separate country from China.

I think you meant Taiwan. And how could her company not know this about China?

To answer a couple of questions below. This was her first time dealing with the textile industry. She has more broad marketing experience.

I am going to go with the "silver lining" side of thing in that she can hopefully find an even better fit.

It is problematic that I was about to sign a contract tomorrow on the townhome we are currently renting. We got to buy or be out in 40 days.

Oh, man...that sucks.

Does she like to fly? Airlines are hiring, too.

If she has trade show experience, lots of companies hire show event coordinators to deal with the logistics of travel, freight, booth design, events, staffing, unions, etc..

She should land soon, but she needs to hit the ground.

There is a blazing job market out there right now. If she has any marketable skills at all there is an open job for her right now at the same level of income.

I know how you feel. My wife lost her job after almost 10 years to Booby Jindall and Lance Harris.

Hope things turn around for Mrs. flyAU.

I lost my job when Obama enacted Obamacare. Obamacare had a 3% medical Device manufactures tax in it. The company I worked for was a mom and pop company and we did 60 million a year. At the end of the year we were supposed to write a check for $1.8 million. Didn't happen because they fired everyone and closed the door. About 30 of is so TOUCHE!

Oil Refinery technology marketing is exploding. And also things closely related to it like cathodic coating technology. It's a big field that's getting bigger. Not hard to learn the gist of it, enough to be able to sell potential customers on the savings.

I don't know exactly what she specializes in, but just throwing an idea out there. I'm sorry to hear that it has affected your household, but I'm sure she won't be out of a job for very long.
