Aaron had he better career
Ben had better “stuff”
Aaron is the goat.

I said in another thread a while back that he's the best I can remember watching. I'm 29.

Aaron also pitched in an era that had bats and balls toned down contrary to when Ben pitched. That being said both were amazing at LSU, but I would give the nod to Nola.

It is. Ben was the better pro prospect. He was deemed at the time as the greatest professional pitching prospect ever.
Nola had a better collegiate career.
It looks like Nola is going to have a better professional career as well.

Were the bats in the 80's that great? It was the 90's before the big barrels really started to come out wasn't it?

Aaron had he better career
Ben had better “stuff”

Nola sat 95ish
Ben hit triple digits.
Again, as I said, Nola had the better career. Ben had better stuff. Nola is the goat.

Bats were much more live then but Nola was still the better overall pitcher. Ben just had unmatched potential.

Ben had better stuff.

Ben had the size and heater.
Nola has everything else.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I’ve never been more comfortable with someone on the mound as I was with Nola. Could be 1 out with runners on 1st and 3rd and Nola was still in control on the mound. And he’s strike out 1 and the then a pop up. Inning over. He never got rattled.

Your right. Velocity isn’t a barometer on pitching ability at all. Solid call.

The players and bats AND balls were so juiced back when Ben pitched I'd say it's a wash. Both were great players. Ben was having great pro career until injuries ended his time in the majors. Aaron is on track to become a career number one guy if he can stay healthy.

I feel like I’ve backed up both pitchers. I still think Ben was the better prospect and Nola was the better overall pitcher.

The first bbcor bats were probably equivalent or even worse than wood. No joke, the Easton Surge was like swinging a broomstick
