Going top NYC in a few weeks. It will be my second time (went for NYE 2016) and her first time.
Hopefully the Travel Board fellas can point me to some cool things to do.

What types of things do you like to do? NYC is pretty big.

Download the tkts app and see a Broadway show.
The traveling productions are never the same as the real set on Broadway.

Spend a day in Central Park and the Met.

Touristy but fun: walk across the Brooklyn bridge from Manhattan; take the water taxi from Brooklyn up the East River back to Midtown. Boat ride is inexpensive, relaxing, different views of the city.

-Yankees / Mets game
-Highline is awesome - lots of cool bars around there
-Chelsea market
-If you wanna get the best views of the Statue of Liberty, take the Staten Island ferry (its free, and there aren't many things in NYC that are free lol)
-I'll second whoever said the 9/11 museum and memorial. And yeah get passes ahead of time.
-Smorgasburg in Brooklyn - a big outdoor food market in Williamsburg every Saturday
There's literally thousands of things to do at all times, for anyone and everyone, in this city.

Two of the best views of the city are in Brooklyn Heights and in Williamsburg. Williamsburg is a neat area in Brooklyn if you don't mind hipsters. The Met is top 3 museum in the world. Prospect park and the surround neighborhoods is nice walk.

- John's of Bleecker St Pizza. My favorite pizza without a doubt. Walk over to Blind Tiger for a beer before.
- Governor's Island. Army post from American Revolution that's turned into a massive park.
- 911 WTC Museum. Buy tickets ahead.
- Tenement Museum. Highly recommend. More intimate tour guide through an original tenement house detailing immigrants experiences when they first arrived in NYC.
- Romantic dinner in West Village. Few places I've enjoyed: L'Artusi, Don Angie, Little Owl, Babbo
- Top of Empire State Building or Top of the Rock
- Rent bikes and tour Central Park
- Comedy Cellar. Ray Romano showed up when I went.
- Ellis Island
- Walk Brooklyn Bridge. I've walked day and night and enjoyed the night walk most.

Only went to NYC once and based upon that, my only advice is to skip Chinatown. I remember thinking it was eerie and wanted to get out of there quickly.

24 hour water taxi ticket—takes you to Brooklyn, Wall Street, around the Statue of Liberty for great pictures, several other stops and you have access to the water taxi for 24 hours. I find it’s a great way to get around town.
Grab a meal at Katz’s Deli—where harry met sally.
Go to broadway—see a good show
At ground zero go have beers at O’Haras Irish Pub. It’s a great locals bar and lots of good stories and people there.
Go to the top of one of the buildings—the rock, Empire State Building, or World One.
Ask a policeman or two for Good hole in the wall places to eat.
Carriage ride through central park
Lunch at tavern on the green
Have a blast. Great city.
