Here's my list... You can add one disney movie because I had to...

1. Sweeney Todd

My family grew up on Sound of Music...so that has to be #1...I even had two siblings who were in the local renditions.

2. And I love Poppins...watched it quite often as a kid.

Julie Andrews as a brunette was...sublime. And her voice.

Poppins beats out My Fair Lady.

3. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (this has somewhat been forgotten but could easily be a Top 3 musical.)

There was this musical being shot on the lot at MGM with the A team of the time Gene Kelly, Van Johnson and Cyd Charisse it was Brigadoon and had Vincente Minnelli directing, but the B being shot at the same time was Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and it made MGM lots of money while Brigadoon is still looked at as the what happened movie.

Can’t pick 3 so here are some I like:

Oklahoma
Grease
Saturday Night Fever
South Pacific
Camelot
Paint Your Wagon

I’m probably the only person in the world who can’t stand the Sound of Music.

I'm glad somebody mentioned this one. It may not play well to modern audiences but Robert Preston's performance was a tour de force. This board probably only knows him from The Last Starfighter.

Singin’ in the Rain
My Fair Lady
Sound of Music

Unrelated, but I just saw The Book of Mormon for the first time last night and holy shite it was hilarious. Also, I’m a fan of Sweeney Todd and love both the musical and Johnny Depp’s movie rendition. Just not a top 3 musical IMHO.
