Those are all delicious in my book.
Fixed it...for me.
In OP, I see lake runners (chinquapin), googleye (warmouth), bream (bluegill) and patassa'(everything else that is too small to keep).
ETA: Never seen a flier. If I did, called it a sacalait.

That pic of a flyer doesn't do it justice.
The Cooper River has a good population, and their coloration is a really different - stark black and sliver/white, with those huge fins. We always find them around heavy vegetation.

No. There are plenty of areas where shellcrackers and pumpkinseeds coexist. They aren’t the same fish. Y’all have some coonass name for what rednecks call shell crackers. Pumpkinseeds are typically much smaller and much more colorful, and do better in creeks, at least that’s where I’ve caught the majority of mine
Shell cracker. Red worms on the bottom.
Pumpkinseed. Lots of blue

Fished with baws from Florida that called chinquapin Shellcrackers. Make sense cause they love em some crawfish.
Also heard goggleye called Warmouth and Rock Bass. We call em trash but they still eat.

AlxTgr is correct.
A pumpkinseed is not the same as a Shellcracker.
Shellcrackers are also known as red-eared sunfish where I come from (Ga) and have been for much more than the 50 years that I have been fishing.
You La folks need to stay off the booze when you fish...obviously clouds your fish recognition skills as well as their proper nomenclature LOL

quote:You're not getting it. Shellcracker is a alt name for both Redeared Sunfish and Pumpkinseed. We all know they are different fish.
No. There are plenty of areas where shellcrackers and pumpkinseeds coexist. They aren’t the same fish.
quote:
In the southernmost regions of its distribution, the pumpkinseed has developed a larger mouth opening and abnormally large jaw muscles to aid in feeding; its forage is small crustaceans and mollusks. The larger bite radius and enhanced jaw muscles allow the pumpkinseed to crack the shells of their prey to attain the soft flesh within, thus providing one common name of 'shellcracker'.[9]
