It's a shame people make snap judgements without knowing the background story.

So your mom was using your sisters food stamp card for your family? As in food stamp fraud? It doesn't matter how old she is, she should not use that card to buy food for your family but only for her and your sister. I would not say anything to anyone because you never know what that person is dealing with but to act like food stamps are not abused is ignorant and absurd. Plus, the argument that they may help the economy is pathetic. It doesnt matter what the percentages are, if you don't absolutely need it than you don't get it.

You sure are making some judgmental assumptions. Just because she was shopping for the family and also used the card, doesn't mean she was committing fraud. You want her to make two separate shopping trips? You don't know if she did or did not divide the items into two separate groups and paid separately.

Also, even if she didn't divide them, why wouldn't her daughter's portion of the groceries just be part of the family's? Should the mother cook completely separate meals for her daughter in order to satisfy assholes like you who will nitpick how the money is spent? Separate milk, separate eggs, etc.? If they receive the card and the mother is making sure her daughter's needs are being met using the card, that's what matters. If she was blowing it on bullshite and not making sure her daughter had what she needs, that would be another matter entirely.

P.S. It sounds as if your sister needs assistance and that is fine by me.

Oh please. It's none of your fricking business.

Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes there are opportunities in these type situations. Imagine if your mom simply talked to the woman in a loving way and explained to her what she was doing in reference to the sister and her condition? Plus, the woman would have been forced to listen to your mom, since your mom was probably ahead of her in line, then the lady would have to stay in line and endure her blunder until she finally left the area. Maybe, she would have even learned some important life lessons. Maybe your mom could have turned it into good right then and there. Maybe it will still happen, or already has from guilty conscious. Interesting how the seeds are planted all the time, even by the one displaying foolish actions for positive response and even life-changing attitudes on both sides. It does take courage to act upon chances in the correct way.

People always bash government programs on here but most of these programs benefit children the most. This food goes to kids that otherwise wouldn’t have anything good in their life. You should see the smiles on my kids faces when I whip out the Louisiana purchase card and say we’re going out for boiled crawfish. They can barely load up in the Escalade fast enough!

You're either being purposely obtuse because you're an e-tough guy or you have the reading comprehension skills of a 3rd grader. I'm leaning towards the latter you presumptuous frick.

When some hooker in Washington DC gets a free house from a senator john on my dime I don’t have to wait behind them in line at the grocery store while they take forever checking out using 3 different cards

While I'm not a fan of a lot of the ways "welfare" is handled, people being outraged like it's the reason our country is in a death spiral is laughable. It's miniscule. 5% according to this source. You want to talk about waste? Check out the military budget everyone is so enamored with.

5% Figure

People bash the programs because there are so many times the guy front of you at a store uses the EBT for a snack or sandwich and then buys two 40ounce beers and a stack of lottery tickets
