The federal government cut 3,000 jobs in May and federal employment has now dropped by 24,000 since President Donald Trump took office, according to data released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Even as federal government jobs were declining, overall employment was increasing—as was employment in state and local government.
In April, there were 2,789,000 people employed in civilian federal government jobs. In May, that declined to 2,786,000, a drop of 3,000.

Are these being filled by contractors at an exorbitant cost to taxpayers or is this a drop in comprehensive government payrolls? There's always a fricking catch with government numbers...

Gonna have to layoff a lot more to offset that increase in military spending.

contractors = business owners.
they're paying their fair share, I can promise you that.
Keep money in small business, not big gov't.

I imagine the government would function just as well (and that is not saying much) by cutting 25% out.

You mean like government retirement plans do?

That’s nice but what about the actual spending of the government? It’s increasing

Yep, we paid about $22,000 for a handrail to be installed on an 8 step general outdoor concrete staircase last year.

What's your point? You really think the cost of government goes down as the population increases? I'm more concerned about how it is spent as opposed to how much is spent.
