Can LeBron leave this summer without any blowback outside of Cleveland?

"Taking his talents to South Beach" was almost universally disliked by NBA fans. He spent 4 years there, won 2 rings, and came "home." That decision was universally praised. He's been in Cleveland for 4 years now, won at least 1 ring, and taken them to 4 straight Finals appearances.

Re-signing with Cleveland is the betting favorite at +110, but that indicates not re-signing with Cleveland is the more likely scenario.

Outside of Cleveland fans, should he get any blowback from NBA fans if he leaves to join any team not named the Warriors? Is there anywhere he could go that would warrant criticism, other than Golden State?

I think he could mitigate some of the blowback by not making it a spectacle again.

Joining Houston or Boston would be akin to what Durant did, but he has earned the right to go wherever they can make room for him. I won't hold his destination against him.

Honestly, I don't even think there would be much blowback in Cleveland this time unless he goes to Golden State, which isn't happening.

He's spent years laying the groundwork to properly hang this on Gilbert plus he's delivered at least one title to the city so as the previous guy said, as long as he's strictly business this time and not the Bachelor, everybody except Skip Bayless will probably give him a pass.

Unless he joins the Warriors.

He quietly joins the sixers and everyone says “can’t blame him”

Yeah, that show was a poor choice, even though the money went to the Boys and Girls Club.

Joining Houston or Boston is a little different than Durant, no?

He's not joining a team he can't beat.

I don't know about no blowback, but there would be way less than previously. He gave Cleveland their first championship since the 50's, and I think that really changed things.

Plus, Dan Gilbert has zero respect, so people will understand that.

I think the intro ceremony with Wade and Bosh was even more cringe worthy. Was easy to not like LBJ after that.

Lebron has played a big role in building the talent (or lack thereof) around him in Cleveland. If he leaves, it will just look like he's fleeing a hopeless situation he helped create and instead of facing the consequences of his demands and interference he's just up and leaving for greener pastures.

I can't imagine he'll have much sympathy apart from the devout scrote riders outside of Ohio.

Yes without question. He brought Cleveland their first title in decades and it would’ve probably been 1 or 2 more if not for the unlikeliest dynasty of all time popping up at the same time.

They got fleeced on the Kyrie trade, but that's not LeBron's fault, even if you think he forced out Kyrie.

We've seen how Cleveland built their team in the 4 years LeBron was gone. It was atrocious.

He's not staying in Cleveland. I'm not sure anyone can give him any shite for it considering what he's done for them the last 4 years.

At this point in his career, how could you blame him for wanting to go to a team where he doesn't need to average 40/10/10+ every night to win a ring? If he stays in Cleveland, I hope he is good with the amount of championships he has because he wont be winning another one in this NBA "super team" environment.

A little bit, but very similar.

I don't think he can beat Houston now and it's doubtful he can beat a healthy Boston going forward, but sure it isn't exactly the same scenario as Durant.

This is Lebrons last chance, Boston will be much better next year and Cleve won't make it back 5 years in a row and he'll just be one more year older.

Won't go west, boston won't have him, Philly seems like a long shot, he's a small market player, his only chance is to another title is to go up to Mil with the Greek Freak which I would love to see.

IMO he'll die a Cav, he ain't going nowhere, it's been media hype all along.

more likely to get Chris Paul to Cleveland than any other scenario.
