I have issues with the committee unnecessarily pitting conference foes head to head

In the Supers.

Not just the SEC but putting FSU vs. Clemson. Two top 16 seeds from the same conference should not go head to head in the Supers. Putting all the SEC national seeds plus Auburn who was a borderline host on the same side of the bracket. It’s done on purpose to manufacture desired outcomes and it’s chicken shite.
End Rant.

That's not how the matchups work anymore for the top 16 tho

They used to try to avoid it, but now they rank 1-16. That is the new reality. You'll have to deal with it.

They removed trying to rig the system.

Now it’s a straight up ranking 1-16 seeds.

And 1 is paired to 16, 2 to 15, and so on.

Potential match ups are by and large not regarded.

Clemson being 9-12 doesn’t really matter. They could have easily avoided that matchup in the Supers.

I realize that, but outside the top 8 what does it matter if you move up or down a spot or two to avoid a conference matchup.

What if you have 3 SEC teams on one side of the equation? You jerk your entire schedule around? What direction do you tweak it? Who do you give the advantage considering you plan on moving out of your determined power ranking?

I’d imagine they’ll be occasional tweaks using what you meationed as an unspoken factor.

But it’s best if they simply rank the teams and let the chips fall where they may.

Well considering FSU and Clemson is the only occurrence of this all they had to do was flip Texas Tech and Clemson to avoid it. Then you would have Clemson matched with UGA and Tech matched with FSU.

If you think having all the SEC national seeds on the same side of the bracket is letting the chips fall where they may I don’t know what to tell you. That was definitely engineered on purpose.

Did they engineer having all 4 PAC 12 teams in the same quarter of the bracket too

I would be pissed as hell if I had to face a better team because the committee tried to avoid in conference matchups and a team with a worse national seed got the weaker opponent

These things are done for good reasons.

Trust me they want LSU home but they only got in because of this past week.

I’m actually glad they’re finally ranking them 1-16 cause you used to see them same supers paired up year after year (Florida/FSU) etc

Remember the year 6 of the 8 teams in Omaha were from the SEC? the committee does. It may have been 5 but it was becoming clear if you didnt force the SEC to kill each other off it would always result in an SEC champion.

Yep. The last thing they want is what happened last year. Championship with two teams from the same conference.

I am also. All I’m saying is outside the top 8 moving a team up or down one spot to avoid a conference matchup isn’t that big a deal and should be done. The rankings are subjective anyway. I could make an argument for every team 9 through 16 to be higher or lower.

These rankings are all subjective. They could easily be finessed to avoid conference matchups and nobody would ever know.

Exactly. People act like this is objective ever since ESPN made this “bracketology” bullshite a real thing.
